I hope you found my Summit talk stimulating - now I'd like to hear from you. I've posted some process questions and am hoping to get a discussion started around each one. I'll check back often and throw in any comments that I think might be helpful. You can also find resources and information about a workshop I'll be doing.

Gary, Thanks for your participation at the Summit. A message from Hybels a few years ago motivated me to change my occupation from the secular to the sacred (a line I'm told doesn't or shouldn't exist). The answer to your first question in the WSJ article is "risk." Budgets are huge, staffing is complex and any change that may risk the status quo, or worse yet, income, is met with resistance. What churches need is an leadership incubator where new ideas can be implemented and tested. Apply real world ideas (like your example of Ideastorm) without a potential loss of credibility. Willow is ahead of the power curve and continues to set the standard. The institutional inertia I see is all of the power concentrated at the top. Unless change can be acted on from the bottom up, we'll continue to wait for "Moses" to come down from the mount!
