Your Responses to Session 7!

Here are some of the comments we've received by text or email...

"Catherine Rohr, YOU GO GIRL!!! What an inspiration. God's blessings from the women of Westgate Chapel, Toledo, Ohio!!"

"Catherine Rohr was such a delight! Thank you for bringing her... What a gift and an encouragement!"

Here are some responses we've encountered in the blogosphere...

"I've REALLY enjoyed the interviews with Wendy Kopp of Teach for America and Catherine Rohr of Prison Entrepreneurship Program. Both of these women are INCREDIBLY intelligent, driven, and honest. They both 'gave up' what most would consider amazing careers to follow their passion for helping others."

"Her take on being a woman leader - she simply carries herself in such a way that people can't cop out with criticism of her leadership. Her mature behavior and professional leadership defines and frees her."

"She was totally incredible - one of my favorite Summit speakers/interviews EVER!!!"

Lead by example. She leads and shows the way for what total dedication to God's vision requires.

An inspiration to anyone who desires to serve others. As someone who teaches in the Indiana Prison System, I can attest to the potential of inmates, their need for Grace and Hope, and the challenge of going where others won't. Thank You, Catherine. Your Leadership is making a difference in a troubled world!

Her enthusiasm and determination is infectious. I seriously got a breakthrough when she described not letting her emotions of a criticism get in the way of her action.

What an inspirational talk! Excellent! Does the PEP graduate with the leather works business have a web site? Does he take corporate orders?!

"Bring it On God!" What a concept!!! If each us took that posture, imagine the outcome! Catherine, you are an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for sharing your leap of faith with us, and trusting God to provide safety! I especially loved meeting some of the graduates. The sparkle in their eyes makes it worth it, they have the light of Christ!! Many blessings to you and P.E.P. Kris Myers Las Vegas, NV

Catherine,  I wasn't planning on attending this years summit, and as God would have it, my work schedule changed and I volunteed at my church.  I was so blessed by you and your incredible ministry.  This past May, I brought 1 son home from state incarceration.  My son did his 3+ time for drugs.  And on Fri AM, just as I was getting ready to go the summit, I received a phone call that another son was arrested on drug charges just hours before.  He too, will probably do state time. But, I had peace and attended the summit.  My sons aren't bad. They made bad choices.  They have to do their time.  And they deserve the opportunity to give back to society and their families.  I too, think that #1 question:  "Have you ever been convicted of a felony? " only  demeans and keeps someone who wants to put the past behind them feeling beat.  I am so glad my Savior Jesus accepts my apology, and doesn't make me keep repaying my debt.  Thank you for being a wonderful, caring person.  And thank you for opening the eyes of the church.

As someone who was incarcerated over twenty years ago, Catherine's words and work touched me deeply!

Vivianne: The man with the leather works is Alvin Hammons. I had the pleasure of meeting him when he was a participant and also several times since. He is a great guy with a great heart. I bought my wife one of his purses and I have a wallet. I'm sure if you contact PEP, they can get word to him about taking orders. I know he also has a "day job". There's another guy who also does leather and I believe it's his primary business (I bought one of his purses too!). He spent 30 years, 9 months and 20 days incarcerated. Another awesome guy. His business is Maddoc Leather Designs. Again, contact PEP: www.pep.org Blessings.

Thanks to Catherine for intervening for what has traditionally been a "throw-away" segment of our society! Her response to God's call on her life is incredible. I can't wait to see what she will do in the next 30 years of her life! Seeing value and promise in these men is one of the greatest gifts anyone could ever give them. May God continue to bless these efforts.

That was truly a WOW session for me. I'm delighted to see what Catherine is doing in her ministry, and changed lives are indisputably a good/great thing. I guess my only hesitation is for the victims of violent crime...they don't get these same chances many times. They go on to lead a life of challenges that come from the choices that another person made. Either they are in the grave or sometimes living with the trauma, physically, mentally or emotionally. In the end, this is good, changed lives are a mark on society that we are in desperate need of.
