It far outpaced my expectations, and I am still buzzing with the stuff I received from the speakers. On a personal level I have made significant decisions that I am going to work with over the next few months, to effect change. It has been a real sharpener, and I thank God for you all at Willow.

re: What's been stirring in you since the Summit?

I too was stirred by the Richard Curtis interview. I did know of the poverty of those little children but had not found my Holy Discontent until I attended the Summit this year. When I got home I thought 'Gee how can I sleep in my nice bed knowing that there are little children out there that don't have anything'?

Below is a memo that I wrote to my colleagues after the Summit. If anyone at Willowcreek leadership reads this and would like to see my outline for this idea please email me. I would also like to apply for the contest with it too.

Subject: LEAD Summit Experience

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with you from what happened to me at the LEAD Summit this year. This was my first year attending.

It all started about a year ago when we moved to the area (Charlotte NC). Some friends of ours who live in Rock Hill SC recommended a couple who ran a company that does window blind installation (we needed them for our new house we just moved into). So the folks that came had actually been a part of our church from where we moved from in Maryland, but they had moved to the Carolina’s about 10 years earlier. So they came and did our blinds and we interacted with them and turns out they are very strong believers. They prophesied over my wife and I. One prophecy was that my wife and I would go through a really great loss, which actually happened (the miscarriage of our second child) and the second prophecy was that God would use me through being commercially successful in business somehow. A few months after that God opened a door for me to join the company I am with now.

So a little time goes by and a few months ago we had some good friends over who are actually residing in the Czech Republic as missionaries planting ministries and a church there. We had a great time of fellowship and at the end we all prayed together and we all began prophesying over each other. I again was prophesied over that I would be greatly successful for the Lord in business commercially and that I would actually have to learn to accept the blessing. Also it was said that I would have to make a choice and the choice I would make would be met with opposition to whatever it was. What was unique was that none of my career or business experience was shared in specific during the visit with our friends.

About three weeks ago I was wrestling with God on my way out to Greensboro to do a site visit on some properties and was actually asking God to reveal the prophecy to me because I was not seeing, in my own eyes, the prophecy fulfilled. I, in my own human nature, had decided that I knew what it was and pegged it to what could potentially happen in my professional career. Boy was I wrong (but there will be a correlation – so God has me here for a specific reason). Of course I did not hear God’s voice that day and continued to pray and seek Him on the issue.

Now comes the Summit. Wow! At the Summit I had what I can only describe as an awesome God encounter. God spoke directly to me and revealed to me the prophecy that has been building up! And the basic premise of the challenge is to use what man or the world uses for pure profit and turn it into a giving ministry. In other words God is calling me at some point in time to start a company which invests in commercial income producing real estate and use all excess profits to give away completely to fund specific ministries already running or in place.

I will be penning my initial outline of the idea and doing the Hybels several drafts technique to get the plan aligned. It’s all in my head right now.

re: What's been stirring in you since the Summit?

Ever since attending the Summit with my husband I have been "stirred" by the Richard Curtis interview and the film images of the little girl in the yellow dress. As I watched that film clip from the pew of my home church I found it difficult to breathe as my heart began to be so heavy and burdened for these children who suffer so much.
After going back to the LEAD website I discovered that on the Make Poverty History Website there is that same video of the girl in the yellow dress. I have began watching it each morning and then praying for her and the other children in extreme poverty. I do not know yet how God is going to use me I only know that he has put this on my heart. I just learned of The One Campaign here in the US. I am excited to see what doors God will open.

re: What's been stirring in you since the Summit?

Hey Jim, Thanks for the heads up. The video should be working for you now.

I can view all of the videos in the leadership video library. This one is a problem. Please let me know if the problem is resolved. I would really like to see this.
