Q&A - John Burke - How Do We Respond to Homosexuality and Other Religions?

Q: When people question us about our views regarding gay people and other religions (often their barriers to grace/faith), how do we respond?

A: John answers this question in No Perfect People Allowed. Chapter 7 is entitled, "What About Other Religions: The Tolerance Litmus Test - Q1" and Chapter 8 is entitled, "How Do You Feel About Gays: The Tolerance Litmus Test - Q2." John says, "Leaders must understand the questions underneath the question - the real concerns and issues that need addressing to help people understand the amazing tolerance shown in the offer God made for all people everywhere through Christ."

John's answer takes two chapters in the book and is excellent. He addresses issues like people's underlying concern of religious pride, how to diffuse that practically in communication - and then how he specifically addresses the numerous ramifications of these questions. We would refer you to this resource. It is excellent.

I have a supervisor who is a real nice guy, but he is gay. He knows that I am a Christ follower. He was in a Jehovah witness church with his mother. I don't know what really happen. I never asked. He so showed me pictures of his vacation with his companion. How do I handle without acting like I am better that I am not interest in his personal relationship since I know it to be wrong. I know its not my place since I am of the opposite sex to tell him about what God says of homosexuality.
