Families. The best of them are challenging.
Families & ministry. There is a challenging combination. Both incredibly wonderful. Both incredibly fulfilling. Both incredibly demanding. Both incredibly time consuming. And often times it feels like both are competing for your time and attention.
With Mother's Day this Sunday and Father's Day just around the corner this might be a good time for some reflection. Regardless of your role ... spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandchild ... how are you doing?
If you look at your calendar or you add up how you spent your day - what would it tell you?
If you asked your family - your spouse, your children, or your parents - what would they say is most important to you?
Is your ministry taking so much out of you that what is left for the family is exhaustion and impatience?
If we looked past the awesome weekend service and into your home would we see the same person?
It is challenging. I know. It is an everyday, every moment decision to be fully present to my family. To give them someone who is trying to be like Christ.
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5: 1-2
