GOING FOR THE "BOLD" AT ORANGE
Yesterday morning at the Orange Conference in Atlanta, Francis Chan challenged all of us to be far more bold for Christ. I got to test out my own boldness in the late afternoon main session when I spoke about the issue of women leading in the church. As I walked up on stage to speak to the 3200 attenders, I took a deep breath and simply had to trust that God had given me a message to deliver and my job was simply to deliver it. I knew I could not control the response, nor should my own sense of worth be defined by whether the talk was well received. It was a huge step of faith for me to bring out these issues that can be so very divisive in the evangelical church. The people were so very quiet, and because the houselights weren't up, I couldn't really discern how they were responding. But at the end, the majority seemed to appreciate the words God gave me...and I was deeply grateful for the courage my Father supplied.
