remember the Sabbath

George White

Every Friday & Monday I pray for my friends who serve at their weekend service.  Many of them like you are artists & teachers in the local church and their day to rest isn't easily made on a Saturday or a Sunday.  I often pray for all of you too.

I know from experience that life without Sabbath is doable but not living in the way God designed me.  I need rest and refreshment.

Mark Batterson in the Wild Goose Chase has this to say, "The Sabbath is a weekly reminder that we don't keep the planets in orbit; He does. But you would never know it by our frenetic efforts to get to the bottom of our to-do lists.  You know what you really need?  A stop-doing list!"

Sabbath for artists & teachers can often be a reminder that our ministry and services are in God's hands.  He is the one in control.  While we are resting God is still at work.

Be at rest ... rest in God.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
   for his name's sake.

Psalm 23: 1-3
