My To-Do List

I love ticking things off my to-do list.  I love answering emails & emptying my inbox.  Unfortunately those things on my list are not always what God has planned.

All of January has felt like a challenge to get things done.  I have fought feelings of being overwhelmed and have continually had to give myself, my days and my to-do list back to God.

This morning the verse God gave me was from Matthew 4, "Come follow me."  Pretty simple & straight forward.  My response was also simple & straight forward ... of course I said yes, "I will follow."

Sometimes, following includes the things on my list.  Today was not the case ... God didn't use my gifts of leadership or creativity.  He brought me to the site of a car accident and gave me the time to sit with a young mom and hold baby Michael while the rescue workers came.

I was privileged to be included in that moment.  I felt used by God.  But you know I am still struggling with my to-do list.  I am getting ready to shut my computer off for the night & I am disappointed that I didn't get everything done.

My friend Sibyl says "There is all the time you need in your day to accomplish the things God wants you to do."  I am trying to rest in that.

The path to spiritual wholeness lies in my increasingly faithful response to the One whose purpose shapes my path, whose power liberates me from the crippling bondages of my previous journey, and whose transforming presence meets me at every turn in the road.
