A Woman of Influence--Darlene Zschech

Yesterday at Willow, Darlene Zschech and her band from Sydney, Australia, led our congregation in worship. With a mix of brand new songs and a few old favorites, their team skillfully and powerfully ushered us into the warmth and wonder of God's presence. I have known Darlene as a leader and friend for about 15 years. Our paths do not cross often, but whenever they do, I am struck by the ways Darlene leads her one and only life and the way she leads others in worship. What most people know about Darlene are her famous songs (Shout to the Lord, Beautiful Savior, Potters Hand, etc.), and her beautiful voice. What they don't see are the many ways in which this godly woman truly LEADS - including her band, vocalists, fellow songwriters, and an entire congregation. She is very intentional about all that she does to protect her own time for songwriting, to be a terrific mom and mother to three daughters, and to develop emerging artists and allow them to flourish.
For all these reasons and more, I am delighted to announce that Darlene will be with us for the June Arts Conference, and that I will interview her so all of us can learn from her experience. I want to explore questions like these with Darlene:
* What have you done to create a songwriting culture in your church?
* What have you learned about guarding your heart so you can consistently and passionately lead worship from a healthy place with God?
* Describe some learnings you've had about leading a tremendous worship team rehearsal.
* In what ways do you make room for young artists/songwriters, and how do you help them develop their gifts?
* How have you created a rhythm of life that works as a worship leader, world-renowned writer, wife, and mother?
There is so much we can all learn from Darlene. I can't wait for others to benefit from this woman's influence as much as I have! As we get closer to the June event, I will invite all of you to weigh in with questions you'd love for me to ask Darlene.
