SESSION 1 – HIGHLIGHTS & MORE

Are you glad you are here?

What did you think of Kaotic, the drumline that opened up the conference?  These guys have an awesome story.  This young group of percussionist are from the Englewood area, on the Chicago’s south side.  The group was founded by 25 year-old  Jamie Poindexter.  Jamie started Kaotic to influence the kids in the neighborhood, to get them involved in something with a purpose – to pull them out of gangs, move them away from drugs and crime and to offer stability to fractured families.  The group practices in their neighborhood so they can draw more kids in.  They provide stability, structure and purpose.  Kaotic is a regular part of the halftime entertainment for the WNBA’s newest team, the Chicago Sky.  They are also featured in a myriad of other sports and entertainment venues.

It was a privilege to worship with you this morning.  I was moved by your engagement, enthusiasm, and your dancing!  I bet for many of you it is a gift to be a part of a worship experience you are leading.  That is always how I feel .

I am wondering what stirred you in Nancy’s message.  What sticks out as the take away?

I was convicted after Nancy's message that if I want to consider myself an "artist" in the church, I need to get more serious about spending quiet moments with God. I'm the ultimate multitasker and it's so hard for me to be still and listen for God's whispers. It seems like such an elementary concept, but wow, I really needed this wake up call. If I leave this conference with no other takeaways, this will be enough. Thank you for the reminder and for your leadership, Nancy.

Actually, Kaotic was one of the highlights for me so far; I love the purcussion work alone, but it was fantastic that it's been choreographed as well. Nice use of lighting too - I appreciated the effect of a red spot shining through a drum...It was a great start to the day. I think what stirred me the most about Nancy's talk was not necessarily WHAT she said, but how evident it was that she felt and believed in it down to her very bones. Thanks to everyone for all the hard work it takes to pull this event off!

I thought Kaotic was fantastic! I can count on Willow to bring in a resource that is available to everyone. My team began thinking of the high schools and colleges in our area. This is an element we hope to imitate.
